I am sure I am not alone in thinking that the July Palio banner will be an absolutely stunning one! The artist is Giovanni Gasparro, a young Roman man with a hyper-realistic style clearly inspired by Caravaggio. You can see a collection of his works in the Magazzini del Sale, the lower level of the Palazzo Pubblico, from 10 June until 7 July (free entry).
And should you find yourselves in Siena on Wed. 26 June at 19.00, you’ll hear the clarions play as the Drappellone (Palio banner) will finally be revealed!
