I am sure I am not alone in thinking that the July Palio banner will be an absolutely stunning one (I write this before the reveal, and before the Palio so I do not yet know who will take it home!)! The artist is Giovanni Gasparro, a young Roman man with a hyper-realistic style clearly inspired by Caravaggio. You can see a collection of his works in the Magazzini del Sale, the lower level of the Palazzo Pubblico, from 10 June until 7 July (free entry).
