Siena Walking Tour
Explore Siena’s medieval streets, breathtaking views, and fascinating history in 2-3 hours. Centuries of wars? Check! Saints? Check! Palio, vino, wild boar? Triple check! Find out why this city has captured my heart; I dare you not to fall in love with it too! Don’t worry, I’ll make food and shopping recommendations along the way too!
Palio & Contrade
Run twice a year (2 July and 16 August), the spirit of the Palio is felt every day in Siena, but what truly makes Siena unique is the Contrada. Find out more by clicking below!
Cathedral (Duomo)
Discover the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin; be mesmerized by black and white marble stripes; marvel at 800 years of history, from floor to ceiling.
Saints & sinners
The saints we will meet walked these very same streets centuries ago; let us follow in their footsteps and imagine what life may have been like for these extraordinary men and women.
English Mass in Siena:
SS. Annunziata (Piazza Duomo): Mondays 11.00, Wednesdays 15.00, Thursdays 11.00 (plus prayer with the Sisters of St Catherine of Siena daily)
San Francesco (Piazza San Francesco): Sundays
You are more than welcome to attend mass in Italian. For times, just check the sign on the door of your favourite church for “Santa Messa” (Holy Mass). The Duomo holds mass daily at 9.30, and at 8.00, 11.00, 12.15, and 18.00 on Sundays and holidays (except when the floors are uncovered, in which case, mass will be held at SS. Annunziata). NB: Do not use mass at the Duomo to try and visit for free; only worshippers and the respectfully curious may go (so please, NO pictures).
